OUR PRESENT STATE & FUTURE PROMISES

With its birth, NASAQU carries sustainability in its DNA. By following the developing technologies and approaches related to sustainability, it works to use better environmentally friendly raw materials and production processes day by day. In other words, as a sustainable brand, we are growing and developing sustainably and thus trying to spread environmental awareness.

Our Present State:

	Reduced Carbon Footprint: We have been committed to reducing our carbon footprint since the very beginning of our operations. By sourcing all of our products and materials from a single location (our brand is based in Istanbul, Turkey), we significantly reduce transportation emissions and ensure that our environmental impact remains as low as possible in these early stages. We will continue to be committed to sustainable practices as we continue to grow and even if we need to add new sourcing locations to enhance our product offering. We will be active in seeking innovative solutions to further reduce our carbon footprint and continue to keep sustainability at the core of our expansion strategy.
	Reduce Waste: Our production waste (the fabric cutting scraps) is sent to certified recycling companies, where they are reprocessed and transformed back into yarn and fabric later. These scraps are generated during the cutting process, where fabrics are shaped according to specific designs in  our artisans where we produce our products.  We collect these scraps, package them in bags, and deliver them to our recycling partners. We are proud to contribute to waste reduction in this way.
	Ethical Sourcing and Production: To have sustainable production processes; Transparent Costing: We make transparent costing for our products with our producers so we can build trust, make our relations with them honest, fair, and sustainable. Community Engagement: We Involve local communities in production in order to create a positive social impact and strengthen brand identity.  So we source materials locally, which can reduce transportation costs and environmental impact, contributing to sustainability efforts. As a socially responsible business, we incorporate with local non-profit organizations that reflect our commitment to social responsibility,. (We are a corporate donor to KEDV- Kadin Emeğini Degerlendirme Vakfi (KEDV) (Foundation for the Evaluation of Women's Labor))
	Reduced Water Usage:    Zero garment washing applied to our products. We intentionally refrain from applying special washes and finishes or any type of washing process to our products, both in cut pieces and finished garments.  By using fabrics in their natural state, we reduce water consumption, chemical usage, and energy expenditure associated with traditional garment finishing processes.
	Avoiding Chemicals: We stay away from all applications that require chemical treatment on our designs. Decorative printing processes that contain chemicals are never included in our designs, instead, we use embroideries that reflect our love of nature using special techniques. We use accessories that have a minimal environmental impact and do not use dyes and chemicals in our products. Our hang-tags are produced from recycled paper and kept in its raw color.
	Crafted with Care :   Every NASAQU product is crafted with meticulous attention to detail and respect for the environment. We take pride in using 100% sustainably sourced swing tags,  And water-repellent TYVEK bags in outer packaging which you can later re-use as a backpack and messenger bag, which empower our customers to contribute to waste reduction in a practical way.
	Inclusiveness: NASAQU is founded by female founders who want to make a positive impact in the world, create a brand for everyone, whoever and wherever they are, and want to move forward together.

Our Promises for 2030

• NASAQU was born and emerged as a brand that strives for a sustainable world. Sustainability has a constantly evolving roadmap with the contribution of ever-developing technology. The steps we are working on with enthusiasm are shared with our tribe below:

  • We will continue to be a proudly inclusive brand.

  • We will continue to put gender empowerment at the heart of our agenda.

  • We will continue to reduce our carbon footprint, protect natural resources and commit to betterment of the habitats and lives of animals.

  • We will continue to encourage our current producers to use renewable electricity. The use of renewable energy will continue to be an essential reason for preference in our selection of new manufacturers and suppliers. As we will gradually reduce non-renewable energy use in our businesses, business partners, and supply chains by switching to 100% renewable energy use by 2030. 

  • We will eliminate coal-fired energy use from the operations of our business partners and supply chains by 2030. As a business, we are coal free brand in our own operations, therefore we will make sure that our business partners and supply chains comply with the same. We are happy to discuss possible solutions where coal-fired energy use is detected. There is always a way to protect the planet. Hence, we will work with our business partners and supply chains to agree on a sustainable roadmap to remove the use of coal from their businesses.

  • We will dedicate more time, energy, and funds to serve our local communities by partnering  with locally-minded initiatives (that include but are not limited to NGOs, and individuals who have a diverse range of knowledge and expertise.) We are happy that we have joined KEDV Equality Envoys in 2023. We support the efforts of women to improve their lives for a strong society where poverty and inequalities do not exist. (KEDV (Kadin Emeğini Degerlendirme Vakfı) supports grassroots women's leadership throughout Turkey and empowers them in improving the quality of their lives and of their communities. KEDV is an affiliate member of Oxfam.)

  • We will dedicate funds to make 100% recycled and environmentally friendly choices in our raw materials and production processes.
